Why is Warm & Natural so popular?
Warm & Natural is the finest needle-punched cotton batting!

Only 15% of all cotton grown in the USA is the proper length, thickness and color. Out of this 15%, only 5% is clean enough for Warm & Natural! This soft, natural cotton has never been washed or bleached with harsh chemicals. It's kinder to the environment and that rates on our list at Quilt Yarn Stitch! 

The cotton undergoes a mechanical cleaning process removing all of the seeds, seed coats, along with the majority of leaf and stem remains. The remaining tiny plant particles lend a special look to crafts, won't harm your quilt and distinguishes it as a warm and natural wadding!

Warm & Natural features include: 

• No need to pre-wash.
• Once quilted, machine wash and dry your finished quilt in cold water.
• 3% shrinkage can be expected in the first wash with cold water.
• To achieve an antique puckered look use warm water for 5% shrinkage. Warm & Natural will not distort when hanging, hooping or when used in quilt frames.
• It can be used for both batting and as an exterior craft fabric to create stuffed snowmen, bears, rabbits and more. 

What is the difference between the white or the natural Warm & Natural?

Both products are the same, the only difference is colour.  If you have a white or very pale background colour on your quilt or wall-hanging, it's best to choose a white wadding to avoid it showing through! The majority of projects work perfectly well with the natural colour. 

Why choose Warm and Natural over a cheaper wadding?
We often recommend that you choose the quality of your wadding based on what you want from the quilt or project.  If it's a wall-hanging, you don't need expensive wadding as it won't be affected by a massive amount of wear and tear.  However, you might find that polyester wadding is a little light to help the wall-hanging to "hang" or "fall" properly.  As regards quilts, poly is perfectly acceptable for childrens quilts that may be used only for a year or two.  For heirloom quilts, we want them to last as close to forever as possible......... so invest in good quality cotton or wool wadding - it's worth it!
