Closet Core - Sepia Pants and Shorts Sewing Pattern

The Sepia Pants + Shorts have a clever design that blends style and comfort. Functional double pockets in the front are sewn to create a floating effect, with additional topstitched pockets in the back. A traditional elastic waistband is elevated with a fluted paperbag edge and optional drawstring.

• View A features barrel leg pants ending at the ankle, shaped with darts at the knee and hem.
• View B features wide leg, full-length pants.
• View C features shorts ending at mid-thigh.

Pattern Difficulty: Confident Beginner

Suggested fabrics: To highlight the silhouette of the pants, the designer suggests crisp wovens with some degree of structure, such as light to midweight linen, cotton ikat, chambray, and broadcloth. Also lightweight denim, twill, and canvas (under 10 oz.).

View A: 45" (1.15 m) wide fabric: 2.75 - 3.25 yd (2.55 - 3 m) // 58" (1.5 m) wide fabric: 2 - 2.75 yd (1.85 - 2.55 m).

View B: 45" (1.15 m) wide fabric: 3 - 3.5 yd (2.75 - 3.2 m) // 58" (1.5 m) wide fabric: 2.25 - 3 yd (2 - 2.75 m).

View C: 45" (1.15 m) wide fabric: 1.5 - 2 yd (1.4 - 1.85 m) // 58" (1.5 m) wide fabric: 1.25 - 1.5 yd (1.15 - 1.4 m).

Sizing: 0 – 20 (approx. UK 6 – 20, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 0.25 yd (0.25 m) of lightweight fusible interfacing; 1.25 yd (1.25 m) of 1.5" (38 mm) wide waistband elastic // Optional: 1.5-2 yd (1.5-2 m) drawstring (can be replaced with drawstring sewn from self fabric); topstitching thread.
